Our Mission Statement

Parkinson’s Network North will empower individuals and families to meet the challenges of living with Parkinson’s Disease through sharing of information, education, personal support, and advocacy for a cure.

What is Parkinson’s?

Parkinson’s disease is a common disorder of the brain. It develops because of damage to that part of the brain that controls movement, posture, and balance. This damage results in the primary symptoms: tremor at rest, slowness of movements, stiffness or rigidity, difficulty with balance and walking.

Parkinsonian/Family Caregiver Support

The Support Group will help you to understand Parkinson’s disease. The caring members will share with you their friendship, support and knowledge and give you strength to have a better quality-of-life. The Support Group invites you to attend its next meeting!

Education

To enlighten as many individuals as possible through Support Group Meetings, speakers, publications, lending library, video tape library and media publicity.

Research

Support research projects to understand or treat Parkinson’s disease.

Community Resources

The Parkinson’s Support Group strives to maintain an up-to-date list of available community resources which may be helpful to the Parkinsonian’s and their families.
